Call for Collaborative Proposals
FOR Bio-Medical Research
An Invitation to academic institutions,
teaching hospitals and businesses in Ontario
Background:
The Ontario Centres of Excellence is pleased to announce a Call for
Collaborative Research Proposals to encourage the development and
commercialization of Bio-Medical research projects in any of the areas
of communications and information technologies, energy, environmental
sciences, materials and manufacturing and photonics or, a combination
or convergence thereof.
This call for collaborative research proposals is open to applicants
based in Ontario academic institutions including colleges, teaching hospitals,
and universities. Companies in Ontario are also eligible to apply but
OCE funding is provided only to academic institutions. Collaboration
between the academic institutions is also welcome as are inter- and intra-departmental
collaborations.
Application eligibility will be determined by the Guidelines – Call
for Call for Collaborative Proposals Bio-Medical Research available above.
The objective of this call is to foster the development and commercialization
of medical technologies that are innovative, will broaden the array of
products and services in the province, and will help this industry expand
and compete globally.
The deadline for receipt of an expression of interest or Project
Application Form (PAF) is December 5, 2007, 17:00 local time.
All PAFs submitted will be reviewed by a panel of internal and external
reviewers, and those selected by the panel will be invited to submit full
proposals due Feb. 22, 2008. Applicants selected to submit a full
proposal will be notified by December 20, 2007.
All collaborative proposals submitted will be subject to peer review
by external referees and ranked. A final decision on funding will be
made by the end of April, 2008.
Successful candidates, their academic institutions, and their industry
partners will be required to sign a Research Collaborative Agreement
prior to the allocation of funding from OCE. The projects are expected
to start no later than July 1, 2008.
