Commercialization: Investment Accelerator Fund

Need investment in your new technology company?

The Investment Accelerator Fund (IAF) accelerates the growth of new technology companies being established in Ontario and positions them for further investment by Angels and VCs. The fund invests up to $500,000 in companies that have the potential to be global leaders in their field and provide sustainable economic benefit to Ontario.

What is the Investment Accelerator Fund?

Managed by Ontario Centres of Excellence (OCE), the IAF is a seed fund that assists emerging Ontario technology companies to bring their products and services to market. The fund provides a comprehensive platform of resources, people, connections and funding that entrepreneurs and innovators can access to help launch their new ventures.

The IAF invests in early stage, high-potential companies that have no significant revenue or investment. These companies are enabled by truly innovative technologies that can be protected and provide the new venture with a sustainable competitive advantage. By enabling these companies to succeed, the IAF is helping to create high-value jobs that contribute to Ontario's Innovation Agenda. The IAF is a component of Ontario's Market Readiness Program, which is jointly delivered by OCE and MaRS.

Eligibility and Application Process

Selection for IAF investment is highly competitive and successful companies are subject to rigorous due diligence and a prescribed approval process. Not all eligible applicants are successful. For details, please contact IAF staff.

Commercialization: Investment Accelerator Fund

FOR ENTREPRENEURS AND INNOVATORS

The focus of the IAF is to help build and strengthen every aspect of a new company and invest at terms that make the venture attractive to follow-on investors. The IAF provides an extraordinary level of value-added support by way of access to resources, people, sector/market connections and other sources of funding that build companies into attractive opportunities for follow-on investment.

FOR INVESTORS

The IAF provides access to an unprecedented flow of high-potential technology companies that have undergone extensive due diligence and strengthening in all key areas. The opportunity is further de-risked with very favourable seed-stage investment that allows the new venture to achieve critical milestones.

"The terms of the investment are so attractive for early-stage companies, that I would highly encourage fellow entrepreneurs to have a serious look at this fund. IAF is the friendliest investment vehicle and partner you will find for a growing company. IAF funding has also allowed us to enhance our relationship with OCE to source follow-on investments. Our relationship includes far more than simply funding, with IAF staff providing sound industry advice and access to key industry contacts."
Mark Kerbel,
Chairman & President,
REGEN Energy Inc.

"IAF funding freed up Aeryon Labs to focus on product development, rather than spending time seeking further external funding. This allowed us to speed up the development process for our unmanned aerial system, the Aeryon Scout, enabling us to reach the market far sooner."
Marni McVicar,
Vice President, Business Development,
Aeryon Labs Inc.

"IAF has been a major catalyst to the early and continued success of Atreo Medical. The financial support has enabled Atreo to secure a Canadian medical device engineering firm to assist in product design, testing and manufacturing. Additionally, the managerial expertise brought to the table by IAF has been instrumental in helping Atreo skillfully navigate the medical device industry. We are extremely grateful to IAF for providing a strong and stable foundation upon which Atreo has not only been able to grow, but thrive."
Corey Centen,
CEO,
Atreo Medical Inc.
