OCE has two commercialization initiatives. The first, our Collaborative Commercialization program, part of the provincially-funded IACP program, is designed to address specific technical industry challenges through collaborative research involving industry and Ontario's publicly-funded research institutions. Collaborative Commercialization is made up of four programs that will identify promising opportunities, provide managerial and financial support and develop follow-on commercialization strategies. Our other initiative is the federally-funded Centre for Commercialization of Research (CCR) which works exclusively with early-stage entrepreneurs and innovative enterprises with excellent potential.
Technical Problem Solving: Supports select short-term projects and collaboration between industry and academia. Goals are to build partnerships that yield commercial results and give researchers hands-on problem-solving experience.
College Applied Research and Development: This program supports certain collaborative projects between industry and colleges. It builds on the unique technical capabilities of Ontario colleges and their connections with local business.
Collaborative Research: Designed for projects with special technical research challenges, demonstrated market pull, and high potential for commercialization, this program leverages the recognized capabilities of Ontario academic research teams.
Market Readiness: This service aids with the initial steps of moving a promising technology from the laboratory to a new spin-off company or licensing opportunity.
Centre for Commercialization of Research (CCR): CCR helps technology-based companies build the capacity to raise follow-on financing, secure a solid market position, and grow into sustainable global competitors. CCR works exclusively with early-stage entrepreneurs and innovative enterprises with excellent potential. These enterprises have either developed innovations in Canadian publicly-funded research institutions or have a relationship with such an institution.
