Collaborative Commercialization Projects in Hydrogen Generation

Call for Expressions of Interest

Be advised that the deadline for this call for Expressions of Interest has been extended from December 7, 2009 to January 7, 2010.

OCE is soliciting Expressions of Interest (EOIs) for transformative energy innovations. We are NOT seeking full proposals at this time. Submissions are due Thursday January 7, 2010 (12:00 noon local time) and must be submitted using the online template: OCEHydrogenCall2009.

Those who have already submitted EOI's are welcome to revise their submission. A business development officer will be contacting these proponents to provide this opportunity.

Applications will only be accepted in the area of:

  • The cost effective generation of hydrogen by innovative, clean, non-traditionally-based technologies

Criteria include:

  • Fits OCE's Special Character (innovative, collaborative commercialization)
  • Involves a technology Ontario "will be good at" with demonstrably wide benefit to Ontario and synergy with the province’s existing research, technical, manufacturing and commercialization capabilities
  • Has clear path to commercialization, a positive business case and established receptor interest
  • Fully leveraged with at least 1:1 matched funding confirmed (for every dollar requested of OCE, at least one dollar must be invested by industry)
  • Involves Skills Development and Training

Furthermore, in order to provide a clear indication that the proposed technology has commercial potential and the project has confirmed industry financial (cash and in-kind) support, all submissions must include a letter confirming financial support by a partner receptor organization.

Funding available:

Proponents are welcome to submit Expressions of Interest not exceeding an OCE ask of $1.35 million.

Application Process:

Submissions will only be accepted at OCEHydrogenCall2009. Please note that only Expressions of Interest will be accepted at this time.

Deadline for submissions is January 7, 2010 (12:00 noon local time). Only complete Expressions of Interest will be considered.

Next steps:

Proponents will be notified in January regarding the results of the call. Those invited to submit a full proposal will be notified at this time.
