International Scholarships

The International Scholarships initiative provides student researchers with the opportunity to work in cutting-edge facilities with leaders in their field, wherever they are located (outside of Canada). The initiative is a cost reimbursement program that offers up to $15,000 to support a student researcher's related travel and living expenses for a period of up to four months. Travel and work can be conducted anywhere outside of Canada, giving our next generation of innovators a truly global opportunity. Ontario Centres of Excellence (OCE) funds half the budgeted expenses before the exchange takes place, and reimburses the remaining eligible amount once the Final Exchange Report and Expense Claim have been submitted and approved.

Eligibility

Successful International Scholarship proposals will contain the following elements:

  • Explanation of how the student's research will provide an economic benefit to Ontario.
  • Support of the student's academic supervisor.
  • Evidence that the proposed undertaking at the host institution will clearly benefit the applicant’s ongoing Ontario-based research.
  • The recipient plans to travel directly to the facility where they will be conducting their research and work there for the duration of the exchange.
  • A post-exchange report outlining the value of the Scholarship and the outcomes of the exchange.

Application Process

Program has been suspended until further notice.
