The initial focus of the Centre will be on commercializing new technology discoveries related to the environment, natural resources and energy; health and related life sciences; and digital media.
Mind to Market Award 2008
The Mind to Market Award honours the best OCE-supported, commercially successful, collaboration between Ontario’s most innovative research and industry partners. This year's award, presented at the Discovery 2008 conference, went to RapidMind Inc. and University of Waterloo.
Developed from an astounding idea pioneered at the University of Waterloo, RapidMind is now able to push computer-processing power to achieve unparalleled levels of speed and performance. The RapidMind software platform enables other developers to harness the full untapped multi-core parallel processing power of the world’s multi-core computers. The result - a computer that operates as much as 140 times faster, with enormous potential for areas such as medical imaging, database transactions and image and video manipulation.
