OCE has a number of strategic partnerships with organizations, formalized by Memoranda of Understanding:

  • Canadian Commercialization Consortium (C3)

  • Centre for Excellence in Mining Innovation (CEMI)

    OCE and the CEMI are working with industry and NSERC on the Mining Manufacturing program. The initiative funds university and industry based, transformative R&D in productivity, energy, water and waste relating to Ontario’s mining industry and its value chain.
  • Canadian Youth Business Foundation (CYBF) 

    OCE and CYBF are co-investing $1 million in young entrepreneurs through a new joint fellowship program. The fellowships will grant up to 10 projects $100,000 each over two years, as well as mentoring and business coaching services.

  • Extreme Startups

    OCE collaborates with Extreme Startups as part of the SmartStart program, which supports entrepreneurial post-secondary STEM students and recent graduates to develop a start-up company.

  • Industrial Research Assistance Program

    Industrial Research Assistance Program (IRAP)

    OCE works collaboratively with IRAP at the regional level to facilitate the competitiveness of SMEs in Ontario.
  • International Commercialization Alliance (ICA)

    With 48 founding members from 18 countries and a secretariat managed by CCR, the ICA aims to add value to each member country by facilitating an exchange of ideas, knowledge and lessons learned from successes and failures; and by identifying opportunities to coordinate and cooperate on global commercialization opportunities and challenges.
  • Invest Ottawa logo

    Invest Ottawa

    OCE and Invest Ottawa (formerly OCRI) have forged a partnership to benefit up-and-coming entrepreneurs in the Ottawa region.
  • National Angel Capital Organization (NACO)

    OCE collaborates with NACO to provide a window of quality investment opportunities through OCE’s portfolio companies.
  • Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada

    Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC)

    OCE works with NSERC to deliver and fund collaborative projects, with both organizations leveraging their respective resources to foster industry-academic partnerships in Ontario. The OCE business development team assists in the delivery of the NSERC Engage program, and the partnership is further augmented through co-funding initiatives.
  • OMERS Ventures 

    OCE's collaborative agreement with OMERS will provide additional mentoring, relationship-building opportunities, potential funding and other resources to support qualified early-stage companies and entrepreneurs as they develop, commercialize and market their products and services.
  • Ontario Aerospace Council (OAC)

    OCE is partnering with OAC on the Ontario Aerospace R&TD Challenge, the first initiative under the Voucher for Industry Association R&D Challenge program (VIA). The Ontario Aerospace R&TD Challenge supports areas of technology that are strategically important to the Ontario aerospace sector.
  • Ontario Brain Institute (OBI)

    OCE and The OBI are deploying innovative Entrepreneurship Fellowships to mentor and support scientists (e.g., neurotechnology, science or engineering) in entrepreneurial/commercialization opportunities and to ultimately establish neuroscience-related companies in Ontario.
  • PARTEQ Innovations

    PARTEQ Innovations is the lead institution in the Rideau Commercialization Network, established in 2011 by the OCE Technology Transfer Program. Working with RCN, PARTEQ administers a joint Proof of Principal Program, aimed at adding value to innovative technologies created by institutional researchers across Eastern Ontario.
  • Quebec Consortium for Drug Discovery (CQDM)

    OCE is partnering with the Quebec Consortium for Drug Discovery to fund collaborative life sciences research projects between the two provinces. The initiative came out of the Ontario-Québec Life Sciences Corridor announced at the 2011 BIO International Convention.
  • Social Innovation Generation at MaRS (SiG@MaRS)

    OCE and SiG@MarRS have established a partnership to further social innovation in addressing social and environmental challenges, building on the recognized expertise of both organizations and facilitating cooperative action.
  • Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC)

    OCE is partnering with SSHRC to deliver the Social Entrepreneurship Fellowships, an innovative initiative to fund individual scholars and researchers in social sciences and humanities research. The program supports knowledge mobilization activities and Innovation/Intellectual Property developed in an Ontario publicly-funded research institution (college or university).
