London, Ontario-based Trojan Technologies is the global leader in residential, industrial and municipal ultraviolet (UV) wastewater disinfection with more than 6,000 facilities in 80 countries worldwide and $200 million in annual sales.
Ontario Centres of Excellence (OCE) has partnered Trojan’s technology development with five Ontario universities for more than 15 years. Most recently, OCE funded a three-year partnership with the University of Toronto to create the next generation of UV reactors for wastewater. The new design will improve system sizing, design and operation, which will further lower costs for municipalities.
Trojan has close to 400 employees in Ontario. In 2011, the company was recognized with the American Water Works Association’s (AWWA) Green Ribbon Award, Environmental Protection’s New Product of the Year Award and the International Ultraviolet Association’s (IUVA) Best UV Engineering Project, Green Innovations in UV and a Lifetime Achievement Award in UV Science and Engineering for Trojan’s Chief Scientist, Bill Cairns.
