Discovery brings career advice to students

Students looking for unparalleled exposure to expert advice from industry leaders will have a field day at Discovery.

This year’s enlarged Career Zone will connect youth with senior executives from major companies for round table sessions that explore desired skills and emerging careers. Companies will have a chance to get a read on Next Gen talent, while job seekers will hear how they can best prepare to compete in the world of work. Features of this zone include:
  • Meet an Employer: Learn about current and emerging careers and the skills needed to fill them from leading employers such as HP Canada, Cisco Systems, Waste Management, BIOREM, Roche, Clearpath Robotics, AMD, Myplanet Digital, Cosella-Dorken Products, Inc., KeliRo Company Inc., Liricco Technologies LLC and Ontario Society of Professional Engineers in intimate 30-minute roundtable sessions.
  • Career Counsellor Lucy Keating: Gain practical resume writing, job hunting and interview techniques in one-on-one sessions. 
  • jobpostings.ca: Search Canada’s largest student job board with assistance from company representatives who will be on-site offering advice and support.
  • Career Zone Networking Reception: Interact with companies looking to hire in the Career Zone on May 12 from 6:15 to 7:30 p.m.
