Ontario-Israel Research and Development Program (OIP)

The Ontario-Israel Research and Development Program (OIP) promotes bilateral collaboration to develop and demonstrate technological solutions. An agreement between Ontario and Israel establishes Ontario Centres of Excellence (OCE) and the Israel Innovation Authority (IIA) as the program partners who manage the program.

The OIP has two streams:

  • Stream 1: The Ontario-Israel Research Network Program-MAGNET (OIRNP-MAGNET)
  • Stream 2: The Ontario-Israel Collaboration Program (OICP)

Managed by OCE and IIA and funded through a partnership with Ontario’s Ministry of Economic Development, Job Creation and Trade (MEDJCT),  the program supports industry-led collaboration, including consortia comprised of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and, potentially, publicly-funded post-secondary institutions to jointly develop industrial or collaborative R&D technologies that meet industry needs and strengthen both Ontario and Israel’s technological expertise while enhancing competitiveness.

Each jurisdiction has committed up to CAD $2.3M for 2018. Ontario funds will be matched in cash by participating SMEs and disbursed to successful Ontario SMEs by OCE.  Successful SMEs from Israel will be funded separately by IIA.
